Kayaking

Old Blue Creek Canoe

One of the most visited and favorite creek floats is located between Centre, Alabama and Piedmont, Alabama.  Terrapin creek is a beautiful creek that will often be packed with kayakers and canoers floating when the creek flowing. During the fall the creek is higher and often will be lower in summer months. My favorite time to visit Terrapin is the fall when the water is up and the trees are changing. Floating down the Terrapin is a pleasure filled with beautiful mountains and breaktaken foliage. The summer months you can expect beautiful plants growing in the creek and will often see wildlife enjoying the serene creek.

I often visit the Terrapin Creek from highway 9   and find the winter a good time to enjoy the creek alone. The water will be rushing and the views great.  There is pick up and drop services available on Terrapin and even group floats. I have also talked to floaters that camped in designated areas and had a wonderful time in the Alabama wilderness.
